Sreeshanth bashing has become a favourite past-time for not only media pundits, but even for those who must know better like ex-players writing columns in newspapers! It all started with Dhoni publicly criticising Sreeshanth. But spare a thought for the poor guy! In the recently concluded World Cup, he was treated shabbily. He was given just one game (against Bangla Desh), and promptly tagged as "way-ward" and dumped. He was never given another chance - eventhough Dhoni could have played him in at least some games with the minnows to enable him to regain confidence and match-practice. He was cruelly ignored and confined to the bench. But take the case of Nehra. He went for runs and was the reason why we lost the match against South Africa. But he was given another opportunity to prove himself by Dhoni. And after making him rust hopelessly for more than a month, sitting and watching game after game from the bench, he was suddenly thrust into the all important final against ruthless opening batsmen like Dilshan and Sangakara. I have a feeling that when bowling him, Dhoni did not even set a defensive field like he did for Munaf.
Poor Sreesanth has been sinned against - more than him committing sins himself.
I am sure with proper guidance and a more understanding captain, he will do much better. Don't forget: he has natural talent and that is one thing even Dhoni cannot negate.
